The next update to The Elder Scrolls Online will be choc-a-bloc with new content. With a new region, new enemy faction, and new mysteries, the upcoming Season of the Worm Cult Part 1 will likely have fans flocking back to The Elder Scrolls Online once again.

The next Elder Scrolls Online update will see fans receive a whole new region to explore for the game's 10th anniversary. Season of The Worm Cult Part 1 will introduce Western Solstice, which will grant fans access to a tropical paradise filled with new characters and creatures to interact with. However, between dazzling locales, boulder-sized seashells, and a tribe of Argonians unlike any the player will have met before lies an evil heart beating beneath the sand.

With the team dubbing Season of the Worm Cult Elder Scrolls Online's 10th anniversary update, it's no surprise that the Solstice expansion is no small undertaking. Players will have plenty to chew on, but they won't have the whole ordeal at once. The two parts of Seasons of the Worm Cult are reflective of the island's arcane split, with The Writhing Wall cutting Solstice in two. Players won't be able to pass this wall in Part 1, only being able to explore Western Solstice. Luckily, there's still a great deal to explore in just this first half of the island.

Western Solstice Expansion

Solstice is home to many friends and foes, and the next Elder Scrolls Online update will introduce a sizable chunk of the island's content. Here, the player will be able to meet a new group of Elder Scroll's Argonians, separated from the race elsewhere in the game universe. Among them are the Argonian Behemoths, who may prove a special threat to the player.

To get into the specifics of The Elder Scrolls Online's next update and Solstice's rewards, fans will be able to expect

new World Bosses
New Delves
New pets
New crafting motifs
Much more

In addition, a new Public Dungeon will be made available as well as a brand-new Trial, dubbed the Ossein Cage. Fans can also expect to find 16 Antiquities (three of which will be new Mythic items) and 4 new Trial item sets (which will each have Perfected equivalents).

Fans will be able to access the rest of the next Elder Scrolls Online update's features after Part 1 has had its time to shine. Eventually, players will be rallied to take down the Writhing Wall in the game's first-ever server-wide event where players will need to complete tasks on Solstice to accelerate the destruction of the Writhing Wall. Once it comes down, Season of the Worm Cult Part 2 will come right around the corner, allowing fans to finally access Eastern Solstice.

The Worm Cult At The Heart Of Elder Scrolls Online's Solstice

The next Elder Scrolls Online update will see the return of one of the franchise's most well-known antagonist factions. The Worm Cult, also known as the Order of the Black Worm, has lodged itself in the heart of Solstice. Players hoping for a tropical getaway will be in for a rude awakening, as the Worm Cult's machinations will be evident from moment one. Players will have to wrestle the cult away from a starting village, which will become their base of operations as they prepare to battle the Order's wider plots.

Though fans can jump into the new content right away, Season of the Worm Cult is plotted as a sequel to earlier events in The Elder Scrolls Online's story where the player faced off against Molag Bal. During the confrontation at Coldharbour, the Worm Cult found itself tied up in the conflict. The cult's leader, Mannimarco, tried to double-cross the evil deity, after which he was whisked away to a realm of torture.

A new upstart, Wormblood, took Mannimarco's place in the newly-formed power vacuum. With the cult in tatters after going against one of The Elder Scrolls' gods, the organization reformed on the island of Solstice. Solstice quickly becomes overrun with the cult before being cut in two by the Writhing Wall, an impassable arcane blockade created by the Worm Cult. Once players make it to Eastern Solstice, they will be able to finally take on the core of Wormblood's operations and lead the charge against the cult and its new leadership.

Subclass Changes

Season of the Worm Cult's first update will coincide with Update 46, which will bring subclass character customization to The Elder Scrolls Online. This free update will allow players to swap out up to two of three skill lines within their character with skill lines from other classes. Though the base game only has 7 classes, this customization will open up 3000 new combinations. However, fans won't be able to access this from the get-go; players will have to go on a side quest (named 'A Study in Discipline') before taking on this new feature. This quest will only become accessible at level 50, meaning players will have to get that far before getting started. Update 46 will also bring in quality-of-life improvements, including the Hero's Return feature for returning players.
