What Are Expedition Logbooks in PoE 2?
Expedition Logbooks are rare items that act as a map to a massive version of an Expedition zone. While standard Expeditions offer around five detonation charges, Logbooks let you place up to 20 detonators, vastly increasing the scale and reward potential. They are the only method of accessing the Expedition pinnacle boss, Olroth, who drops exclusive high-value loot and contributes to Path of exile currency earning Expedition Atlas Passive Points.
These Logbooks can be customized with modifiers (implicit or from remnants), and the zone level determines the difficulty and potential rewards. To fight Olroth, you'll need Logbooks with Area Level 79 or higher.
How to Get Expedition Logbooks
Logbooks are a rare drop that can only be found by engaging in Expedition encounters across the Atlas. Specifically, they drop from Runic Monsters, which are spawned by detonating explosives near Red Flagpoles. Here's how you can increase your chances of acquiring Logbooks:
1. Detonation Strategy
Red Poles spawn Runic Monsters – these are the only sources of Logbooks.
Use your limited detonators to chain explosions through Red Poles and POE currency for sale Remnants, which modify monsters and loot.
Black Poles yield chests and artifacts but do not drop Logbooks, so deprioritize them when hunting Logbooks.
